If you are looking for portable device that can allow you to easily surf the world wide web, check emails, play games and whole bunch of stuff that you may normally do on a standard desktop, Apple’s iPhone may actually fit the bill better than the netbook.

For about the same price for a netbook (mini laptop), the iphone can pretty much do what a netbook can plus make phone calls and can fit nicely in your pocket. Plus the iphone is very snappy to use because the operating system has been optimize to work efficiently on the iphone’s processor plus the interface is designed for the small screen (versus tiny screen running Windows XP).

I currently own an iPhone and was considering buying a netbook for my travels, however after reading about the quality issues and testing out the small screen and keyboard, it looks like the iphone would be enough for what I would use it for.

If you are considering netbook and your mobile phone contract is up, consider the iphone as an alternative.
