3 Stars An OK system for the price
I purchased this system back in July. I like it for the most part, but here has been my experience 6 months into my purchase:
Pros:
*I love the lightweight, small size of this product. It is the ultimate in portability.
*The enclosed laptop sleeve is a nice plus.
*The power adapter is a nice small size (see below for more info about issues with this)
*Battery life advertised at 10.5 hours is a stretch, but I can still get 7-8 hours which is very respectable.
*The system is fairly fast, and has a nice quality display.
Cons:
*The power brick overheats and switches off using an internal safety switch. It seems as though this is due to the small size of the unit, it doesn’t have enough room to dissipate the heat. It gets so hot you nearly burn yourself. Asus knows about the issue and hasnt done anything about it.
*Be sure to write down your windows XP product key, and keep it in a safe place. The sticker on the bottom of the unit tends to wear away with use, and the product key will not be readable. Microsoft will refer you to Asus, and Asus will not give it out to you, despite numerous calls to support. Perhaps they are afraid of people re-selling or stealing it? Who knows…
*In general, the support that ASUS offers is not very good. I have called them with questions in the past and have gotten unhelpful, unfriendly people on the other end. Not really a way to build customer loyalty.
Seems like a well built unit so far. I am still concerned that it will not last the test of time. As long as you back up your system regularly, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about however. If I needed another computer, I just might purchase another one, if better brands were not comparable in price.
5 Stars It has charger issues but I still love my netbook!
I love my Asus netbook. It suits my purposes just fine. I bought it with the intention of untethering myself from my desktop. It fits in my messenger bag/large pocketbooks easily. It’s ultra light — I’m not weighed down at all when I travel with it. I rarely leave home without it nowadays.
I bought it as a birthday gift to myself. I researched and read reviews on various tech websites. It was highly recommended.
I’ve owned it for about a month. Today is the first time that I experienced problems with the charger. My practice has been to unplug it from the wall once the netbook was fully charged to avoid the overheating problems many reviewers were complaining about. This time however, I forgot to unplug. It was plugged in nonstop for at least 24 hours. The adapter was cool to the touch when I went to use it but it still wouldn’t charge. I put it in the freezer as suggested by other reviewers for less than an hour (maybe 30-40 minutes), plugged it in and it worked like a charm.
As expected, it doesn’t come with an optical drive. I never realized how much I’d miss having one. I mostly watch movies online through Netflix but I still wish that I had the option of watching DVDs.
The keyboard is comfortable and not cramped at all. Let me be more clear — it’s as comfortable as my husband’s 17″ Sony notebook’s keyboard.
All in all a fantastic device. I would recommend it to anyone who asked

You can get twice the PC for the money. Check out the Acers. 360GB hard drive and 2GB memory. This has Windows XP? Are they kidding? You can get the Acer with the new Windows7 OS This is not worth the money!!!
5 Stars Power cord is fine thus far.
Assuming the power cord does not fail, I can’t see a reason not to give this little thing 5 stars. I was blown away when I got it out of the box by how quick it could be in such a small package; the only thing the netbook doesn’t do that great is play video, but it’s a netbook and I wasn’t expecting much so it doesn’t influence my overall rating of it. I’d highly recommend the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook – 10.5 Hour Battery Life to anyone who was looking to make a netbook purchase; Asus seems to have gotten a poor reputation based on their customer service and the faulty power cords they’ve been sending out, but the netbook itself is a gem.

Wonderful small Netbook. It performs as promised, with a long battery life and great graphics. More importantly, it was a College gift for my grandson, and he loves it.
