5 Stars I like this machine
I wanted something more than an ebook reader but would function like an ebook reader. This is great for enjoying ebooks and also lets me use my email program and others. It is sturdy, compact and light. I enjoy travel and this makes a great companion. There is lots more I can learn about how to use it’s many features, but I don’t have to do that to enjoy it. Lovely sound from the speakers and a really nice clear crisp display screen. Windows 7 is much friendlier than Vista, which I have on my other computer.

5 Stars Ultra-portable, not a workhorse
It’s great, I haven’t installed a 2 gig memory stick, but I’m not noticing any major slow downs. This netbook is not designed to be a workhorse computer. I’m using it to take notes in class, the handwriting recognition software is pretty neat, although it’s going to take some getting used to (my handwriting is fairly chicken-scratchy). The SD drive expansions come in pretty handy to double the storage space.

4 Stars Try out the keyboard first.
I’ve had two different ASUS Netbook models, the EEE PC 1000 and 1000HE. The first one I traded in because of the placement of the right shift key directly to the right of the up-arrow on its keyboard, which resembles this model. That drove me crazy and I could not learn to distinguish between the up key and the right shift key, and I needed to have a portable, light, **typing** device.

I sold that one and with the 1000HE improved the keyboard layout, but I still needed a BIG right-shift key, and I really needed the netbook to do more.

This model, I appreciate the touch screen, which I would use. But do try it out first in a store somewhere, especially at this 8.9″ size (the models I had were 10″ screens).

At this size, as a buyer, you should be needing a light portable device that you do light typing and web browsing on and can stow it around. It’s more like an accessory, in that regard. Or a hobbyist device.

At this price point, you could almost buy a new, fuller-featured laptop, but hey, I don’t like how heavy they are!

ASUS was the fastest netbook I found. Worth consideration. Especially with Windows 7 bundled. Just try beforehand, is my biggest recommendation.

5 Stars Sweeet device..;-)
I just got mine a couple of days ago, it’s been a sweet honeymoon since… I bought it for $380 (used) but in perfect condition (the original owner get it as a gift). Everything works perfectly. I’ve known that the CPU is somewhat weak, so I order the 2GB RAM from Amazon. But after a couple of runs (start up & shut down) I found even the standard memory is quite acceptable. I noted less than a minute start up (cold start) and less than 20 seconds to shut down. Wake up from sleep mode takes less than 8 seconds to a touchable window. Slightly faster than my MSI Wind U100 that have Win XP. So I still let my 2GB RAM sitting around until I found the time to install it.

The keyboard is tiny, but to be expected in this tiny device, I was surprised after a while I found it quite comfortable, so I wrote this review with it.

The dual touch screen (yes it’s dual & not multi touch, it can only registered 2 touches at the same time) is great. Very responsive & I don’t need my finger nail to use it.

The moment it was in my hand, I installed BSPlayer (free) to watch video, and as long as you don’t have many programs running in the background, this little device rocks. The video plays perfect and smooth…

So far it’s a perfect little device for me… :-)

5 Stars This is fantastic !! Everything I wanted
This is my first netbook and it’s really more than I imagined. The touch screen works very well in all modes and I use it mainly for reading in the tablet mode. The keyboard took a little getting used to due to its size but its very useable. The 32GB memory is working well for me and I plan to add another 16GB memory card in the SD Reader slot just for pictures, documents and movies. She runs pretty fast with Windows 7 Home Premium installed and is no slouch when playing installed videos and YouTube downloads. All in all I’m very happy with the unit.
