Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t Review

March 10th, 2010 Mini Laptop Reviews Posted in Gadgets, Mini Laptop Reviews, Uncategorized No Comments »

Engadget has reviewed the brand new Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t. The features are quite impressive as it’s a combo netbook/tablet PC for a reasonable $649.

However the overall review was not very flattering:

As both a netbook and a tablet the S10-3t leaves a bit more to be desired. Sure, we’re disappointed that the N470 processor doesn’t provide improved performance, but what’s even more aggravating is that $649 buys you a tiny trackpad, sluggish touchscreen software and terrible viewing angles. Maybe you can live with those shortcomings, but we’re personally holding out for a better netbook / tablet combo to come along.

oh well, maybe Lenovo will get it right on the next one.  You can read the full reviews here.

5 Stars Wow
I had a few reservations on buying a refurbished laptop, but I needed a fast laptop that wasn’t too high in price. Let me tell you that this laptop is excellent. First of all, it came in three days early than the estimated shipping date. Second, it runs all my programs and games very fast and efficient, for those gaming nerds out there, it ran Crysis on high at about 30 fps. So great overall buy for any gamer, or just someone who wants a cheap, good laptop.

5 Stars Great Deal !!!

This is not the first laptop that i buy and its refurbished.

125 High Speed Mode Wireless Pocket Access Point 2 Internal Innovative and Sen

125 High Speed Mode Wireless Pocket Access Point 2 Internal Innovative and Sen

ASUS WL-330GE World s Smartest Wireless Access Point, Innovative Integration of Access Point, Ethernet Adapter, Gateway and Universal Repeater.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Amazing + Easy To Setup
I am using this product as a repeater to extend the wireless range in my house as the signal upstairs was around 20-30%. It was extremely easy to setup. I connected it to my PC installed the CD and and it was detected by the program right away. I then setup this unit as a repeater as it has other functions as well. Once it was all setup, I took this unit upstairs and plugged it in and BAM 100% signal upstairs. Awesome Unit!!!

5 Stars Worth every penny
I have an old Windows2K laptop which is not worth upgrading. But, the wireless card cannot connect to a newer network. I also have a couple of desktop computers which do not have wireless cards so they cannot connect to my home network. This device worked great. The configuration screen came right up and I selected ‘adapter’. That’s all you need to do. It comes with an Ethernet patch cable and external power supply which you don’t need if you have an open USB port. It comes with a padded case and is about the size of a credit card, only thicker. This gizmo will quickly enable any non-wireless device to attach to a wireless network or allow a network device to become an access point. You need to toss a couple of these in your tool bag. I am off to purchase a second one.

5 Stars Worth every penny
I bought this to use as an access point because the wireless signal is weak on the opposite side of the house and I was sick of swapping an ethernet cable between devices and tripping over the cable in the middle of the night. So, I retracted the ethernet cable back into the attic, plugged the end into this device, and tucked in all into a closet. Now, I have a private wireless network in my room. In 1 month of ownership, it’s been set and forget – strong signal and no issues yet, even when streaming movies to a PS3.

I’ve only used this as an access point, so I can’t say how well the the device performs in the router, repeater, or wireless NIC modes. I personally wouldn’t use this as a dedicated router, except in a pinch where the router goes down.

The device is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It’s about the size of a half inch thick credit card. The configuration utility is pretty straightforward and has many advanced options for security, MAC address filteringm etc.

I’ve owned several other Asus products, and Asus has included “nice touch” features and accessories. This is no exception. They’ve included a case, 1 ft ethernet cable, and a USB power cable – all of which are useless to me, but nice to have in case.

5 Stars Fantastic little device
I bought this to use with my Oppo BDP-83 BluRay player, which has an Ethernet port but no built-in wifi. It was incredibly easy to configure this device: I connected it to my laptop using the included Ethernet and USB power cable and waited for Vista to report that the Ethernet interface was connected. I then opened Firefox and navigated to the device’s IP address, selected Adapter mode, gave it my wifi network’s WEP key, and voila, I was online.

When I set up the BluRay player, I connected the wireless box to the USB and Ethernet ports on the back of the player just like on the laptop. When I powered the BluRay player on, the wireless box came right up. When I went into the BluRay player’s setup menu, the player had already obtained an IP address from my router and was online.

Note that this device comes with both a USB power cable and an AC adapter. I chose to use the USB cable just to keep the clutter down in my entertainment center, but you could use the AC cable if the device you are connecting doesn’t have any USB ports available. The good thing about using the USB is that the wifi box is powered down when the BluRay player is turned off. It boots up much faster than my BluRay player so the player never fails to get online.

4 Stars ONCE IT’S Configured………………
……then you’ll have a perfect conection almost anywhere..

the problem is the instructions, while explaining alot,,leaves out key stuff,,like,,how to solve the configuration page problem..I used the code in the address window but couldn’t get the config page until I reset the 330gE (pushed button for 5 to 10 secs),and rebooted the cpu..

the good thing is ONCE configured,,it’s close to perfect..Repeater mode is the real deal for me…I enjoy resturants that have open wifi but I don’t always like eating inside..With this device,in repeater mode, I can eat in the parking lot,in my car, in peace while working on the net..

It does so much more but I needed a repeater and got a good one,,,so far…

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Nice enough case
It’s a nice-enough case. I kind of wish I had read these reviews so I would have learned that there is not enough room in the case for the power adaptor (you can, however, fit a thumbdrive or a small USB aircard.) I feel that the computer is adequately protected in this case, and the small size might be a plus for those who don’t want to carry the power cable anyways.

No complaints at all about the seller (Senyx), from their end everything was first-rate.

1 Star Item smelled of cigarette smoke
This item fits my MIS wind just fine. The item itself reeks of cigarette smoke smell. I can’t use it the way it is. A total waste of money.

5 Stars Netbook Pouch
Great product! Durable, well made with quality material, and workmanship. Priced very reasonable and well worth the money!

3 Stars Better choices available
I only bought this particular case because Amazon robo-recommended it. I regret buying it because it doesn’t meet my needs.

Pro: it has a handle.

Con: it has no pockets or pouches for accessories, such as the power cord. It’s a tight fit with the 6-cell battery.

4 Stars Great case, 1 flaw
I bought this case for my MSI Wind U-100 netbook.

The case is great, its just too bad that there are no extra pockets for cds/wires or other things
