Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

so go and get your files

hold the “power” and “home” buttons for 5-10 seconds, then release the “power” button and hold the “home” button until your computer recognises it. Itunes will say “restore your ipod”

I have had this problem too. Try plugging into itunes, then put your ipod into DFU mode. To do this, hold both the power and home button for 10 seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold the home button until your pc recognisez it. (usually 8-9 seconds.) itunes will pop up saying that u must restore your ipod before use with itunes. Restore, and then resync with itunes. It worked for me!

iOS updates can only be done by connecting the iPhone to a computer that has iTunes installed — There is not other way.

Have her install iTunes on her work computer and then connect her iPhone to that computer using the USB cable.

If that isn’t possible, then ask a friend to use their computer, install iTunes on it and then do the upgrade that way.

There is no way to upgrade iOS without using the USB to connect the iPhone to a computer that is running iTunes (yet).

In fact, iTunes strangely lacks a Delete button in this File Sharing area, and right-clicking a document does no good. So do not spare time on finding the delete button.

I think what you are talking about is called Internet Tethering or Mobile AP system.

This system, unfortunately, need to have the hardware module built into the hardware. Some phones like Samsung Galaxy S and iPhone 4 have that module built-in. Just activate that, and your phone will act like a wireless router, using 3G as its internet connection.

There is another tethering system using cable, but this requires specific software. For Galaxy, it needs KIES and iPhone 4 uses iTunes.

For transferring of internet signals via USB cable, that is not possible unless what you are talking about is the cable tethering, which I mentioned above. In this case, the phone/device will act like a modem.
